Leisure & Activities :

The location of the Grande Bartheliere between Avignon and Luberon, close to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, allows you to discover the wealth of the surrounding areas :

The Luberon, almost a symbol of Provence itself, is just 10 minutes away. A magic place, the hilltop villages (Menerbes, Bonnieux, Gordes, Oppede, Lacoste) have retained their natural charm and taken on the color of the earth - ochre, red, yellow.

Niched in the hollow of a valley, amidst a field of lavender, the Abbey of Senanque still stands as a testimony to the Cistercian era.

A pleasant walk (3,5 km) from the Grande Bartheliere brings you to Isle sur Sorgue, a typically Provencale town, with several small canals flowing throught it.
A paradise for antique lovers, more than 200 dealers present their wares here.

Avignon is 17 km away.
This city, celebrated for the Popes' Palace and bridge, harbours a wealth of other treasures. The city's charm lies in its squares, coblestoned streets and superb architecture at every corner...
The theater festival is a highlight of the summer season.

At the Fountain of Vaucluse (12 km), below the ruins of a chateau, you will discover one of the most important natural springs in the world. In its shaded site, the water reflects like emerald.

30 minutes away, the Mont-Ventoux, culminating at 1909 meters, offers a multitude of walks.

Hardly any farther away, you can visit the Baux de Provence and Saint-Remy de Provence, typical villages of the Alpilles.
