A buffet breakfast is served outside on the shaded terrace or, if the weather is poor, indoors in the “Bistrot”, which Richard has turned into an authentic village café complete with zinc bar and marble-top tables that he found in L-Isle-sur-la-Sorgue’s antique shops.

Start the day with fresh fruit and yoghurt as well as freshly baked bread and pastries. And make sure you try Richard’s home-made jam cooked in a copper cauldron that belonged to his great grandmother.

The bistrot is also a great place to sip a local wine while you read a book or plan your stay.

Dinner, available if booked in advance, is usually Provencal-style, making the most of the freshest produce the region has to offer. Here’s a chance to get to know the local wines and, more likely than not, to strike up friendships with others who have come from far and wide to explore this enchanting corner of France.
